UNMANNED AEROSPACE VEHICLE MEASUREMENT STUDIES*

Peter H. Daum

Provides technical services to evaluate, select, install, and use meteorological instrumentation for measurement of water vapor, temperature, and absolute pressure for use in an unmanned aerospace vehicle (UAV). In addition, shall provide oversight and, where appropriate, development of the meteorological (MET) package, for use in climate measurements from a small UAV.

Technical tasks include:

1. Oversight of the MET package: BNL shall identify temperature, pressure, and humidity sensors, their performance, and their suppliers for use in the UAV program. BNL shall oversee their calibration and integration into the UAV payload and shall reduce and analyze the resulting data.

2. Develop a sensor for upper tropospheric water vapor: BNL shall develop, fabricate, assemble test, deliver and support a UAV-compatible sensor for measuring upper tropospheric water vapor.

3. General consultation on aircraft measurements: will continue to provide general consultation on the UAV program based on extensive experience in conducting airborne measurement campaigns.
